Buzzworthy News

You all really had thoughts on Waco Monopoly.
Last week I polled the idea of a Waco Buzz-themed Monopoly board… and let’s just say the inbox was lively. Turns out, there was a version back in 2018—and yes, I also found Bellmead-Opoly on eBay for $40. Not even kidding.

So we’re scrapping that idea (for now) and cooking up something better…maybe a local taco passport or a Waco version of Clue??

🏛️ Texas Just Passed School Vouchers

Governor Abbott signed new school voucher legislation this week, creating educational savings accounts that will roll out in the 2026–2027 school year.

🎓 Coming Up Around Town

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, so call your mom. Or take her to brunch. Or both.

Graduation season kicks off this weekend with MCC and La Vega ISD. Baylor’s next. Midway and Waco ISD after that. Prepare for traffic, cheers, and restaurant waits.

Another one! Swing Waco is the third indoor golf simulator to be announced in the past month—this one landing in downtown Waco. Maybe it’s Masters fever, or maybe we’re all just trying to avoid melting while still hitting the links. Either way, Waco’s indoor golf scene is heating up just in time for summer.

Walk-On’s: Officially closed 😢

Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux has officially closed its Waco location, with May 3 as its final day. Co-owned by NFL legend Drew Brees, the Louisiana-based chain was a go-to for game days, burgers, and big screens. Gift cards can still be used at other locations—just not in Waco anymore.
