SPORTS

@WacoLibrary

Over the past two weeks millions of people around the world have tuned in to watch the 33rd Summer Olympics in Paris. The City of Waco posted this picture on Instagram a few days ago highlighting the Waco flag and the official mascot of these games. Numerous Baylor athletes competed at the Olympics including Brittney Griner (women’s basketball), Avery Skinner (women’s volleyball), Nuni Omot (men’s basketball for South Sudan), John Peers (men’s tennis for Australia), and Nathaniel Ezekiel & Zaza Nnamdi (track and field for Nigeria). The 34th summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles in 2028. The Olympic flame was passed from Paris to Los Angeles by none other than Tom Cruise yesterday.
