Brought to you by Baskin Robbins Waco

Located at 1616 Wooded Acres Dr

Voted as the #1 Sweets and Treats spot in Waco by Locals Love Us, Baskin Robbins Waco continues to deliver delight through ice cream and treats to Wacoans every day. What was once a selection of 31 flavors - originally for a different ice cream flavor for each day of the month - has grown to over 1,000 various flavors in its flavor library. A personal favorite of the Waco Buzz is the BEACH DAY flavor. The perfect balance of sweet and salty made with salted vanilla ice cream, milk chocolate caramel filled sea turtles with a frosting of graham cracker "sand.” It’s available through the end of the month!

RESTAURANT SPOTLIGHT….Maria Mezcaleria

Located in the Waco Hippodrome at 724 Austin Ave

Nestled in the heart of Waco’s vibrant culinary scene, Maria Mezcaleria has quickly become a favorite for locals seeking a blend of traditional Mexican cuisine and creative mezcal-based cocktails. Opened a year and a half ago by Vanessa Rodriguez, also the owner of Hecho En Waco, Maria Mezcaleria embodies the perfect fusion of culinary passion and a commitment to family.

Vanessa’s journey into the restaurant world is both inspiring and personal. Formerly a nurse, she transitioned into the food industry, driven by a desire to balance entrepreneurship with quality time for her five-year-old son. It was a major life shift but with the guidance of her husband Pedro Leon, a seasoned professional with over 17 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Maria Mezcaleria came to life. Named in honor of the iconic Mexican actress María Félix, the restaurant is a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Mexico.

At Maria Mezcaleria, you’ll find a delightful array of Mexican dishes, but the true star of the show is the mezcal cocktail menu. Each drink is crafted with precision and flair, offering a unique twist to your dining experience. One of the highlights of the week is Taco Tuesday, where you can indulge in $3 tacos and the irresistible $7 La Güera Mezcalita, a fresh pineapple margarita that perfectly complements the flavors of the tacos.

If you’re looking for a great deal, their Happy Hour is a must-visit. Running Monday through Friday from 3-6 PM, you can enjoy half-price appetizers, cocktails, and beer. It’s the perfect opportunity to unwind after a long day and savor the rich tastes of Waco’s local gem.

Maria Mezcaleria is not just a restaurant; it’s a place where community and culture come together. Whether you’re a longtime resident or new to Waco, Vanessa and Pedro invite you to experience the warmth and flavor of their family’s creation.
