New 1300-Home Development Proposed Near Lake Waco

A major new development is in the works near Lake Waco. A developer has proposed building 1,300 homes off Hwy 6, adjacent to the lake. Dubbed “567 Woodway,” the project will feature greenspaces and more than 2,500 feet of shoreline. Situated in the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) and within Midway ISD, the development promises to bring new residential opportunities while enhancing the scenic beauty of the area. DINKDEN Pickleball Club Coming to Waco

Big news for Waco pickleball enthusiasts! DINKDEN Pickleball Club has announced a new location in Waco. Opening soon at 700 Schroeder Drive, next to Texas Dynasty Cheer and Gymnastics, the indoor pickleball facility will provide a great place for the growing number of pickleball enthusiasts to stay active and beat the heat. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, DINKDEN’s new location will offer fun and competitive play for all skill levels. Follow their social media for updates as the opening day approaches!

⚖️City Council meeting

On the agenda for tonight's City Council meeting:

  • Public hearing on Callan Village Phase 4 development, proposing 134 new single-family lots

  • Potential zoning changes, including new fence construction standards and property rezoning

  • EPA grant of over $3.2 million for lead abatement, tree planting, and community garden programs

Sports

🏈 La Vega Pirates Are State-Bound!

The La Vega Pirates are heading to the 4A Division 2 State Championship after a dominant 62-35 win over Wimberley in the semifinals. This is La Vega’s first trip to state since 2019, and they’ll be chasing their first title since 2018. The Pirates face Carthage on Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. (KCEN)

🏈 Baylor Football Bowl Bound
Baylor (8-4) is heading to the Texas Bowl to face LSU on Dec. 31 in Houston. The Bears, led by Coach Dave Aranda, are making their third bowl appearance in five years, aiming to improve their 14-13 all-time bowl record. Tickets
