P.S. In case you were wondering, we polled the Waco Buzz community on what you thought is the worst Halloween candy. Candy Corn is the unanimously agreed upon worst Halloween candy out there based on the dozens of votes it received compared to Twizzlers and Tootsie Rolls. Keep that in mind when you go to buy candy this month for guests coming over.

Election Day Voting Centers can be found through this Mclennan County website. If you have not had a chance to vote yet, today is the day to do it. With local, state, and national elections taking place, this is your opportunity to vote your values. Also, if you forgot to do your homework to understand what the Railroad Commissioner role is responsible for, the Buzz has you covered, take a quick read here.
Wacoâs beloved arts hub, Cultivate 7Twelve, will close its doors on January 15, 2025, after seven impactful years. Rising rent costs forced owner Debbie Wright, who curated over 30 shows and hosted nearly 500 events, to make the difficult decision. Wright expressed sadness for the local artists who found a safe space within its walls. She invites the community to support Cultivateâs final events and hopes to keep its creative spirit alive in new ways beyond 712 Austin Avenue. Follow them on Instagram and we will be sure to promote their last couple of shows here in the Buzz to show as much support as we can!
⨠Save the Date: Diwali Festival 2024! đŞ Asian Leaders Network Waco is partnering with the Waco Downtown Farmers Market to host a special Diwali celebration at Bridge Street Plaza on Wednesday night from 5-8pm. Come for a night of vibrant performances, unique market vendors, and a celebration of South Asian culture, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness. Letâs come together to enjoy Wacoâs most luminous festival yet!
đ°Have you noticed your tap water tasting differently?
The City of Waco uses chlorine as the primary disinfectant to keep Waco water clean. Every so often they switch to whatâs called free chlorine to maintain quality and stop bacteria from becoming immune to the standard disinfectant. The switch leads to a different taste and smell in our water (safe and common) that lasts for 30 days. The process started on October 21 and will wrap up on November 18th. Two more weeks of smelling like youâre at the pool when you take a shower.
If you have any Christmas shopping left, you must use this:
Itâs called Rakuten (formerly Ebates), and Iâve used it for the last few years now. The way it works is a 100% FREE cashback app that can be used on your phone or computer. Click through the 2,500 stores you want to shop at, make your purchase, and youâll get paid back whatever percentage the site you are shopping for is currently offering (1-40% cashback). As if that wasnât cool enough, they currently have a $30 bonus available to new users. (Note: you canât get this bonus on their site without going through the link which is a referral link that helps us pay the bills - so thank you if you do use it!)
