🍷Wine Wednesdays at Bertie's Rooftop : Tonight, you can unwind with live music, delicious bites, and a global selection of wines at Bertie's on the Rooftop (Hotel 1928). 🐶 The Humane Society of Central Texas is in ongoing negotiations with the City of Waco to continue its services. Meanwhile, they’ve extended free adoptions for cats and dogs due to low adoption rates. The organization, which achieved No-Kill status in 2016, currently cares for 198 animals. Despite uncertainties, they remain committed to finding homes for pets and partnering with local groups to support community sheltering.

LOCAL RESTAURANT SPOTLIGHT: POPPA BEARS

Poppa Bears, a Vietnamese restaurant in Waco, opened in October 2023, filling a cultural gap identified by owners Binh and Bella Nguyen. They’ve created a welcoming space for studying, date nights, family time, and celebrations. Their standout dish, beef pho, features a broth simmered for over 12 hours by Bella’s mother. While the menu is small, it evolves monthly with specialties like fried rice and bun Bo hue. Poppa Bears also hosts lively karaoke nights, fostering a fun and inclusive atmosphere for the Vietnamese community. The Nguyens invite everyone to experience the warmth and authentic flavors of Poppa Bears, where every dish is made with love.
