🍿”Oh Captain, My Captain” Waco Movie Club launches on Thursday evening at Segovia Wine Bar at 8 PM. Like a book club, you watch the film on your own, then come together to analyze and socialize. This month, they’re featuring Dead Poets Society.

There’s no cost to join as the Waco Movie Club is a collaboration between the Waco Indie Film Festival and KWBU. They aim to build community through classic and cult cinema. Stay tuned to their website for updates on future films and gatherings.

•°•° Humidor on Austin is set to open on Thursday at 804 Austin Ave. The new establishment promises a luxurious retreat for cigar enthusiasts, offering a sophisticated atmosphere with plush seating and rich wood finishes. Members enjoy perks like private lockers, discounts, and exclusive events.

🐶This Saturday Paw Community Dog Park and Dog Wash Grand Opening: Founded in 2023 by Marlon Jones, he has been on a mission redefine pet care with a vibrant hub for dogs and their owners. Offering a DIY dog wash, a fun off-leash park, and a Food Truck Cafe, the focus has been on enhancing the bond between pets and people. The event will be at 1800 Washington Ave from 10AM-2PM. At the event will be free microchipping for dogs, dog adoption, and exclusive membership discounts if you sign up during the event.

CIVIC NEWS

Scott Walker, with over 30 years of experience, has been appointed Waco’s new Fire Chief. Previously serving as the Executive Assistant Fire Chief in Phoenix, Walker managed operations in the fifth-largest U.S. city. He was selected from 60 candidates after a nationwide search, bringing expertise in fire operations, prevention, and management. Walker holds degrees in public safety and fire science and has completed the Naval Postgraduate Leadership Program.
