🗞️Live Music Lowdown, Reading Revival, and Reptile Fun!

Good morning, Waco. This is the Waco Buzz, where reading the news is as refreshing as a 7/11 Slurpee.

In today’s issue:

  • Make reading fun again 🔖

  • Live music this weekend 🎸

  • Castle Heights dream home just listed 🏠

Let’s get to it.

WHAT’S HAPPENING

  • 🔖Read Aloud Revival with Sarah Mackenzie is back at Fabled tonight at 7 PM. It’s the middle of the summer, and if you are a parent needing some fresh vision and ideas to encourage your kids to read more this is the place to be tonight.

  • 🧑‍🌾Waco Farmer's Market is looking for more vendors as they continue to expand their Saturday morning downtown footprint. Located at the Courthouse parking lot, this is the place to be on Saturday at 9 AM.

  • East Waco Library is hosting Danny Conner and his reptiles this morning at 10:30 AM. Danny has been making his rounds at different library locations this week along with his 10-foot python and 110 pound snapping turtle. This event is loved by kids of all ages and is free to attend.

  • 🍿Midweek A/C and Family Time: Families can enjoy summer at Cinemark with $1.75 movie tickets every Wednesday through August 14. The Summer Movie Clubhouse feature next week is Trolls Band Together.

CIVIL NEWS 🚿

At the beginning of the month, Waco kicked off permanent, year-round water restrictions to tackle ongoing drought issues. Get ready for a three-day watering schedule where sprinklers are banned from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Odd-numbered addresses get Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, while even-numbered addresses water on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays—Friday’s a no-go for everyone! Hand-watering is cool any day, and new plantings get a 60-day pass. Watch out, though—violations could lead to hefty fines or even a water shutoff!
